Clean, Efficient, Versatile … Propane

Propane efficiently powers a wide range of heating appliances. To bring your vision to life, we must know what type of heat you need. Central heat? Or extra heat?

Central Heat

Central heat is the primary source of heat for your home or business. Potential appliances that can provide central heat:

  • Furnaces
  • boilers
  • certain direct-vent appliances
SBG gas furnace products
SBG gas boilers
Vented gas heatings stove, fireplace, and wall furnace

Extra Heat

Extra heat inside the home either takes the chill off a cold room or offsets appliances that do not run on propane or natural gas. Appliances that provide extra heat could be:

Direct Vent, Vent Free Fireplaces and Heaters
Direct Vent Red Heating Stove
Amana Heat Pump and Daikan Mini Split with Remote
  • Direct Vent (DV) or Vent-Free (VF) fireplace
  • DV or VF wall heater
  • DV or VF heating stove
  • Heat Pumps
  • Mini Splits

So what’s the difference between vented and unvented appliances?

Vented (DV)

Vented appliances exhaust outside the home. Our certified technicians install ventilation from your appliance to an outside wall and utilize outdoor air for operation.
Examples of DV appliances:
Furnaces, Boilers, Fireplaces, heating stoves, wall furnaces

Vent-Free (VF)

As you probably guessed, vent-free appliances do not have outside venting. They operate using the air inside your home. While these models are generally more cost-effective, be aware that C0 and H20 may accumulate inside without proper air circulation. (See our important safety information about fireplaces.)

Examples of VF appliances:
Fireplaces or log sets, heating stoves, wall heaters, cooking stoves, mini-splits (electric), and heat pumps (electric).
