Important 2025-2026 LIHEAP Updates
The Pennsylvania Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) has announced a delay in the opening of the 2025–2026 season due to the ongoing federal government shutdown and the absence of federal funding. The program is now tentatively scheduled to open on December 3, 2025, contingent upon the availability of federal funds.
At this time, LIHEAP Cash pre-season applications are still being accepted. However, it is important to note that no payments, vouchers, or customer notices will be issued until the federal shutdown concludes and funding is released.
Additionally, Regular LIHEAP Cash and Crisis applications will not be accepted until the official season opening date. We kindly ask all partners and community members to refrain from encouraging early application submissions, as they will not be processed prior to the official start of the season.
We understand the importance of LIHEAP for families across Pennsylvania and will continue to monitor the situation closely. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
For questions or further assistance, please contact your local LIHEAP office or visit PA Department of Human Services.
